It has been confirmed that the leadership of the All People’s Congress (APC) party has instituted an internal investigation against some Members of Parliament over their alleged acceptance of money to vote in support of the removal of the Auditor General Lara Taylor Pearce and her Deputy Tamba Momoh in the Well of Parliament.
Confirming the news, Hon. Osman Timbo said he too is subjected to the investigation and that he has already appeared before the Investigative Committee to ascertain whether the information received by the party that some APC Parliamentarians collected money to endorse the removal of the two people is correct or not.
It could be recalled that during the voting, seven APC Members of Parliament voted in favour of the removal of the Auditor General and her Deputy against the policy of the party.
The Leader of the party in Parliament, Hon. Abdul Kargbo in a press conference told journalists that they are strongly against the removal of the Auditor General and her Deputy because they are of the view that they were illegally removed from office by the government. He told the people of Sierra Leone that APC law makers will kick against the motion that was taken to the Well of Parliament by the Attorney General and Minister of Justice.
Sierra Leoneans were shocked to learn that seven Parliamentarians from the APC voted in favour of removing the two people which has not gone down well with the leadership of the APC. The action of these seven law makers prompted the leadership to set up a committee to investigate the allegation to ascertain the veracity of the allegation and take the necessary action against anyone found wanting.
